OOPS! Camera trouble…I really did visit Bryce, but due to a dead light meter battery I have no pictures to prove it. Also missing are shots of the breathtaking views along Highway 12 which links Capital Reef with Bryce. Highway 12 crosses the mountains at up to 9,000 ft. as it traverses Dixie National Forest and skirts Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. This drive was surprisingly beautiful and one of the highpoints of the trip.

We left Bryce during an early morning snow squall, arriving several hours later at the eastern entrance Zion National Park. The weather cleared, revealing a crystal clear winter sky, just in time for our arrival.
